Welcome to Sabah State Library’s official website.
Thank you for visiting our website.
The recent controversy surrounding the Kota Kinabalu Regional Library brought out library supporters we never knew we had.
Some of you may remember that the library in question had already been vacated once before in 2000 for public safety reasons. The library service was then moved to the Sabah Trade Centre in Likas while massive repairs and renovation were carried out.
Unfortunately, in 2007, cracks similar to the ones found before the 2000 repair resurfaced. JKR engineers were again called to do a thorough check on the building. In fact, we requested the engineers to do an annual inspection with the safety of the public and staff in mind.
I am excited about the new library to be built in Tanjung Aru. The land size is twice as big as the original site and it will have plenty of parking. The facilities will be second to none and it will also be the first green library building in the country.
A Children Library will be built where the existing KK Regional Library stand while another library with 6,000 sq.ft. will be set up at Suria Sabah.
Please give us feedback and ideas. Tell us what you expect the library to be like; and what kind of services you expect to see.
